Spike leads a host of projects, and is also involved in supporting other musicans' work. Here is a look at his most current projects.

The SPIKE BAND

The Spike Band is a collective of U.N.T. grads who love making music together.

Drawing from the finest wellsprings of popular music, incorporating jazz, soul, funk, & blues, The Spike Band brings a style of music that blurs the lines of musical genres. The five piece band, is made up of vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and trumpet and performs original music, written by leader Spike Sikes.

Spike is joined by drummer Joe Oviedo, bassist Mark Milazzo, trumpeter Zach Hall, and trombonist Marie Millard for live shows on the West Coast.

A typical show will cover a wide range of musical styles and include songs from Spike's extensive catalog.

Spike and Friends

The Spike and Friends project is focused on re-introducing older styles of music to kids/families.

A full length CD is currently being recorded, and much of the music is already being shared when Spike plays children's show for local charity groups such as Bread & Roses.

What It Means
(2016)

After an eight-year hiatus, The Spike Band reconvened in New Orleans to record their homage to that city and the outlaw spirit of great American music. With cover art by the late poet/painter Jack Micheline and songs about Buddy Bolden, "What It Means" is a tribute to dreamers, lovers of life and music.

WHat It IS
(2007)

While students at The University of North Texas in Denton, The Spike Band recorded their first full-length project in 2007, drawing on the intricate funk grooves of Stevie Wonder, the soulful sounds of Ray Charles, and the jazz/pop harmonies of Sting. "What It Is" captured them at their youthful best, just dudes thrilled to be making music together.
